So far the updates have been FREE, and the drawing/inking platform alone is one of the best features of this program. Unlike Photoshop and the rest of Adobe's programs- with CSP you pay the one time price and that is it. I bought CSP when it was on sale, and now every time they have a sale(which is at least 4 or 5 times a year) I try to put the word out to encourage artists to who want to do comics digitally to invest in this program. I mainly use CSP to draw & ink my pages I toggle back and forth between CSP & Photoshop for coloring and small other FX. The only issue I'm not adjusting to right now is its gradient tool- I dont like how the gradients look harsh in their progression(in my eyes) than Photoshop. That is why using shortcuts is important in my process so I can navigate easily and breakdown everything into three clear separate steps: Flats, Shadows, and Rendering.Ive been using CSP for about 2 years now, and I have to say it is a very practical program for creating comics. My technic is simple: I repeat the same set of actions into a lot of different layers. Since all the shapes are locked, it’s easy to render interesting shapes as you can draw them in broad strokes a give a clear direction without caring about going over another shape. Then I navigate the piece with Select layer again and work on the rendering of every part, to create more volume and build some interesting shapes onto the shape itself. I set this function to a shortcut because half of the time, I like to rework the shape of the shadow as I am rendering. To ease the rendering process, I lock every shape (flat colors and shadows) with the function Lock transparent pixels. This is what I get at the end of this stage: I repeat all the previous steps for every shape-a new clipped layer for each one.

CLIP STUDIO PAINT HOTKEYS WINDOWS
For shortcuts, operations in this guide are described based on the Windows version unless otherwise noted. This is a function I use all the time, but I do not set any shortcut on it because I do not spam it. Keyboard shortcuts are the key to a more fluid experience in using Clip Studio Paint.
